About Us

WorldAutoSteel, the automotive group of the World Steel Association, is comprised of 18 major global steel producers from around the world. Our mission is to advance and communicate steel’s unique ability to meet the automotive industry’s needs and challenges in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way.

The AHSS Application Guidelines is a flagship project of WorldAutoSteel and its membership.  The new online database made available in 2021 marks the 7th edition of the Guidelines, which now will see continuous update via Blogs and new articles. The information available is the most comprehensive resource for the metallurgy, forming and joining of advanced steels in the world today. Meet the Guidelines team, below.

WorldAutoSteel operates in strict adherence with antitrust guidelines, a copy of which can be found on the World Steel Association website.

Daniel J. Schaeffler, Ph.D., is passionate about training the metal stamping community on sheet formability and how to make the best use out of their chosen sheet metal grades. Danny is responsible for the Metallurgy and Forming sections of these AHSS Applications Guidelines. Danny is President, Engineering Quality Solutions, Inc., and Chief Content Officer, 4M Partners, LLC

George Coates

George Coates is an integral part of the AHSS Guidelines technical team. He is responsible for guidance, steel application input, and integrating steel member subject matter expertise.

Cees ten Broek provides direction, facilitates steel member participation, and oversees all facets of the WorldAutoSteel Consortium. He leads the Team to identify and implement planning for value-added research and development programs.
